Video & Sound Stutter Glitch

Thread Starter
Hi all,
I just built a new pc over the weekend and I have noticed that about every 45seconds or so there is a 0.25 second stutter in video and sound. In a games, youtube video or listening to music. It sounds like a stutter or shutter. I look at my processes and I have 14gb of ram free and about maybe 1 - 2 % cpu load. But i notice the stutter at any cpu load.

So I have updated the Realtek Sound driver and Video Card driver and no such luck in fixing the problem so far.

Could it be a Bad CPU or Bad window 7 install?

Build-

Intel i7 2700k (no OC)
16gb ram, dual channel corsair vengence 1600 9-9-9-24 (no OC)
ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 (mobo, I think I have updated its BIOS and everything)
Corsair 750 watt PSU
Zotac GTX 560 (non ti)
OCZ Agility 3 120gb SSD
Corsair H80 cpu water cooler
Haupaugg 1600 TV Tuner Card

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Install latest Intel INF and latest realtek audio software.
Try and test the PC with no audio hardware plugged in.
uninstall any HD audio software that was put on by your video card drivers.

Plug your headphones or speakers into the green audio jack.
disable sound via HDMI if you use HDMI.
reinstall video card drivers to latest beta and use custom install. Do not install anything other than display driver and physix.

Make sure HT is off and adjust the RAM timings and RAM voltage so it matches to the specification.

Check any audio settings in the bios.

Check, if your using the front audio panel on the case, if plugged into the correct pin headers on the motherboard.

Run these,

See how it goes with all this to test out!

Edit:
I see you use this:
Haupaugg 1600 TV Tuner Card

Try removing it!

Thanks, I will have to give this all a go.

So is Hyper Threading a cause of problems? I am just wondering because I believe Photoshop and some other Adobe programs can use this to it advantage.

I do Graphic Design and Photography, weddings and portraits... and some gaming when I have time.

Thank you though for the list of things to check out, besides the stutter, this puppy is so snappy I'm am very please with how well my build went since the last one I did was in 2003.

Good stuff. And yeah. HT can cause stutter but it is unlikely to be the issue but still, we must rule it out.

Might be a good idea taking 2 RAM sticks out and run in dual channel just for testing purposes.
If you wanna do a reformat, i can talk you through all the proper steps so you don't get any software conflicts.

Well, I tried some things out and didnt have any luck one day. Then the next my computer froze when after about 5 minutes from Start up, I believe WMC was about to record a show.
So I did a hard shutdown and then windows 7 would not load.

I formated my ssd and just now intall windows 7 ultimate 64 with service pack 1, and have been doing custom installs with all drivers.

Nvidia v295.51 only Physx, Nvidia Update and Graphics drivers (not hd audio or 3d)

AVG Free addtion

Realtek 6.0.1.6251 x64 edition

Intel Chipset 9.2.0.1021

and Firefox.

listened to an mp3 and did not hear any stutter, watched a YouTube video - no stutter.

I think all is well so far...

So what are some of the "proper steps so you don't get any software conflicts."
Just so I know for future stuff that I intall.

Thanks.

Install whatever you want from now and if you get the stutter, you will know what software is causing the issue. thumb.gif
Am glad my steps helped fix the issue for you. Enjoy the computer!
