Help deciding on a new card.

Thread Starter
I've been thinking of getting a new soundcard. Currently using onboard, since my old razer barracuda died. Headphones are the ATH-AD700.

My mic has been giving me issues off and on in ventrilo. thinking its the onboard.

Options I have in mind are, asus DG/DX or the recon3d fatality (on sale for 129.99)

I haven't used speakers in years, not much of a music person. Mainly mmo/fps and ventrilo.

Thoughts?

If you are mainly gaming go for the Recon3D non fatal1ty version, save yourself some money. The Titanium HD is also another great choice.

my thought of the fatality is for the beam mic. eliminates a wire clip'd to me or headset. not 100% sure my mic ain't faulty as well.

I got the xonar DG and a difference in on-board to it was substantial. Only problem now is im wanting to upgrade to a STX/ titanium HD. I plan on getting the STX myself do to the AMP. From my personal experience Spend a little more to get a card that can AMP headphones since you dont use speakers. Dont skimp and keep wishing you bought something better in the long run you just spend more.

All are good options. The creative series are more geared towards gaming while asus likes to be geared to hifi and music and movies.

If you can find a titanium hd for less than 100 i would snach it up. However the recon3d non branded edition will be a good buy also.
