Need help with finding a cable.

Thread Starter
I have a DX58S0 (zero) motherboard. I have a 6970 graphics card that is just long enough to cover up two of my sata ports. I'm looking for 90 degree horizontal cables that are sold in the US that will be compatible with my motherboard.

Here is the problem. The sata ports are very close together, but they are not in unison. One is a right angle and one is a left angle so using standard 90 degree cables does not work and I need low profile because of the graphics card.

Any suggestions? smile.gif

I can't help with US sources, I only know of a German company "InLinE" which makes Sata cables where the end connector turns left and right instead of forward and backward.

Those WOULD work if my motherboard didn't have intravertied SATA ports. They are backward's. Check this PDF out. http://downloadmirror.intel.com/18128/eng/DX58SO_TechProdSpec.pdf

You can see on page 11 that the SATA ports are different in the fact that they lay like they are facing each other.

What cards (6970 i just read) do you have that extend all the way across an ATX motherboard confused.gif And are you really using all 6 SATA ports? I think I see what you mean with them facing each other, but in order for that to be a factor you'd have to be using at least 4 of those ports. If you're only using two or three of those ports, you'll be just fine covering the unused one up. A very strange layout, no doubt, but I don't know of any video card long enough to stretch from one side of an ATX mobo to the other, and not leaving any space for you to plug in SATA connectors. 6970 is 11 inches long, width of ATX is standard at around 12 inches or longer iirc?

I'm using all 6 of my Sata ports. And the card is about an 1/8 inch longer than my mobo. Check out the specs.

6970 is 11 inches long, ATX motherboard is 12 inches wide. So according to the specs, you should have an extra inch thumb.gif

Width is not length. Motherboard is 9.6 inches long. tongue.gif
