Are there any 1080p 27" IPS screens? - Page 2

They don't make 27" panels, however there are a number of 32" HDTVs using IPS panels, although getting them to admit it in the spec sheet is rather difficult. The only one that seems to flaunt it is Panasonic.

Here's a 32" 1080p TV that uses Panasonic's "IPS Alpha" technology:

Ha I just went threw this exact thing. I wanted a 27 inch IPS or MVA or something other than a TN panel but still wanted 1920x1080. Reason being my eye sight sucks and most IPS 27 inch screens are 2560x1440 which you need a microscope to look at text and webpage etc. And yes you can use large fonts but that still doesn't help much and then some webpages look jacked up. Also the GPU demands you need at least crossfire or SLI to play most recent games maxed out. So your looking at $800+ for the video card setup. And that will get loud and hot. But back to the original post. You will not find a 27 inch IPS at 1920x1080. You will find the Samsung S27A650D which is a AMVA panel. Its true 8 bit and 27 inch and 1920x1080. I just got it myself. Not only that but the screen is semi glossy. None of that heavy AG coating like on most IPS panels where it gives you that really dirty or grainy look on the screen. Its smooth. Its also LED nice and thin. It was $500 so it didn't break the bank and I didn't need to upgrade my GPU's to use it. View angles are just as good as IPS as well. The response time is a little slower then IPS but as long as I keep it o Fastest response time on the OSN display all my games play fine like BF3 for example runs great. So take a look at the samsung s27a650d...

What?
You ever use one before?

I (run two browsers side by side) can see everything just fine at 2560 X 1600.
These screens are MADE for the extra space and resolution.
Not small at all. You can adjust Windows font sizes as well.

The 1440p models do have a somewhat higher pixel density than the 1600p models. For someone who goes from a low pixel density panel directly to a 1440p one, might be jarring. But it shouldn't cause any issues unless you have issues seeing text on other displays as well. One gets used to it very quickly.

Why don't you just get a LG 32LD450 biggrin.gif Technically it's not a monitor but it is 32" 1080p and IPS wheee.gif

EDIT: IIRC LG make the LCD panels for the iMac and Apple cinema display so they are definitely not low quality.

Just out of interest, what is you reason for wanting an IPS panel?

If you say "image quality" then thats a void argument because 1080p at 27" is going to look far worse than at 22",23" or 24"....

The only thing you will achieve is better colour accuracy.

That depends how far away from the monitor you sit. I sit around 1.5 metres away from my 32" 1080p TV and to me it looks very similar to a 17" 1080p monitor from 30cm away if not better.

I have yet to meet someone that uses a computer and sits 1.5M away from the screen. But also, surely if you sit further away, it makes getting the bigger screen monitor with the same res completely pointless?

I mean I can understand if you sit at the same distance as you were a 24" 1080P because everything will be bigger... But move backwards and its going to get smaller.
