Home Theatre System Setup Help

Thread Starter
Buying a new home theatre kit tomorrow.

What I want is for all devices to use the home theatre kit for sound output.

I've made a scrappy drawing with paint to show how i've got it set up at the moment. (The surround sound on the picture is not there yet, will be tomorrow).

I need to know if this would work as I want it to. I think it will but i'm not sure about the PC.

Surround sound is LG 806PH
TV is LG 32LG5700

All help is massively appreciated.

Wow, that system has no hdmi input? Is that the best package you can buy? It's like going back to 2004...

doesn't have to be that one, but £200 is my limit for the sound system. I'm not made of money.

Well i think u need to clarify a couple of things namely:

1. Does routing digital audio out of TV (i am thinking optical?) support DD/DTS?

2. Does that DVI-to-HDMI adapter transmit audio as well? If not another option is to route audio from the PC (coax or optical) to the receiver of the surround system directly. You would need either a soundcard or SPDIF bracket if your motherboard has no digital audio out onboard

Also HTIBs may be a convenient solution but with puny sats, weird low impedance that would be an issue with proper receivers later, passive subs and such if i were tight for $$ but want to have surround sound capability i'd hunt for optical/coax non HDMI AVRs in the used market and go with decent fronts and sub first thumb.gif In the UK this means places like Gumtree, etc
