Bulldozer is as close as it gets. If you want to O.C. on LN2 the BD chip can hit 8 ghz lol.

the fx 8150. someone somewhere on some sort of sick cooling system got the fx 8150 to 6.4 or 6.5ghz. they were using an ASUS Crosshair Formula 5 board mind you and either liquid or some other crazy cooling ideao but it got em to over 6ghz.

Ok I guess I should rephrase the question , is there anything in the 2500k price range that can touch it? Lets say $200-$250 range..
Short answer no. Even if you clock both chips to the same 5 ghz the intel still wins. The architecture of the chip is just that much better. Now keep in mind the 2500k is a 4core chip. The bulldozer is a 8 core chip. And can only beat the 2500k in a few tasks that utilize all the cores like rendering, video editing and such in gaming the 2500k has no match for the price.

I think you want to stay with AMD so go with X6 or FX and use a top of the line AM3+ mobo like Asus Crosshair V. Get a SSD for your Sata III port for performance. It's up to you on GPU, going with 7970 is the best you can get and then you're AMD all the way.
