Samsung LCD 950 eyefinity

Thread Starter
So, I was thinking about using three SA950Ds in eyefinity and was just confirming with people experienced with these monitors that they are worth it? I have two HD 7970s and will be using the two display ports and the dual dvi to achieve 120 hz on all three monitors.

I have read conflicting specs for the 950D, they do have a display port AND dual dvi yes?
And also, can anyone who has bought this monitor let me know if you get the DP-DP cable with the monitor? Or any cables?

Thanks in advance, will post pics if I go through with it pending people's response to my questions

Yes, the 950D has DVI input, but I'm 99% sure they only give you a DVI cable in the box and only include the DP cables on the 750D model.

I've been heavily researching these models as well, and ordered a 750D last night to replace my eyefinity setup. I really don't think you will be disappointed. Seeing three 950D's in eyefinity would be interesting.

Yeah same hey , what graphics are u running? I would get the 750Ds over the 950Ds as well due to them being on a centered stand rather than a stupid looking asymmetric stand, but my crossfired 7970s allow for only 2 DP and 1 dual dvi for 120 hz which means I have to either get three 750ds and run one at 60 hz or get two 750s and one 950 and have a ****ty looking setup due to the massive stand differences, OR get three 950s which means I have an eyefinity setup with three asymmetric stands which 1) looks pretty bad stand wise and 2) no chance Of using a single stand for all three

So there is my dilemma :/

Yeah it seems the only real downfall of these panels is the lack of inputs and being forced to use the 950 for DVI. Its kind of a cool design for a stand alone display but not something I would personally own. And using more than one or pairing it with any other monitor will look a little funny. using the 950 as your main and flanking it with 750's may look a little bit better, but then the 750's also have a thin clear Bezel that extends slightly past the regular Bezel. Also, take a look at the owner's thread fur these models. A lot of 950 owners have issues with the left side of the screen sagging about 1/4 inch so you might want to be aware of that. Kind of an unfortunate situation for wanting to do eyefinity with these and a shame since the panels are so nice.

I'm running dual 6970's. I'm ditching my 60hz eyefinity set up in favor of a single 120hz. I really just don't use eyefinity as much as I originally thought I would. And running a consistent 120 fps at 5760x1080 would mean I would have to turn down details on any late game, which I just don't want to do.

Have you heard of any suitable alternatives for Eyefinity? I need 120 hz so Dp and dual dvi on each, plus 3d as a bonus and preferably 23" . That's why the 950 would've been perfect if it weren't for its obvious downfalls :/

You could wait for the 7990 to come out and sell your 7970's, that would give you adequate displayport outputs to run 3x A750D's. Other than that, I would probably look at some of the Asus offerings. I haven't researched them much, but I have heard good things.

The benQ XL2420T is another good 120hz model with both DVI and DP.

We actually have a thread for it: http://www.overclock.net/t/1185118/benq-xl2420t-available-january-18th/0_50

Yes, it's dual link DVI. Otherwise it wouldn't be able to run 120hz at 1920x1080. wink.gif And it's a 24" model.

It is supporting nvidia 3d vision 2, which is good if you have nvidia, but you need a separate 3D kit. The brother model XL2420TX has a built in 3d vision emitter and comes with shutter glasses.
