Ok..first off i will explain my specs of my water cooled styem:

RayStorm CPU WaterBlock (Intel)

Koolance Laing Strong D5 Pump 8-24V PMP-450S (See STORM D5 Strg)

XSPC Dual 5.25" Reservoir for One Laing D5 Single Loop

1/2" ID Tubing

XSPC RASA RAYSTORM KIT SLEEVED FAN - 1650RPM 63CFM 29 dBa

Slim High Density Dual 120mm Radiator XSPC EX240

Scythe Gentle Typhoon Black Edition 5400RPM 150.1CFM @ 50db Fan (Mounted 2 on the RAD)

PICTURE OF CURRENT OC:
Untitled.png 367k .png file

I have run Linpac on this oc and has PASSED so i know its stable.. max temps were 67 at this OC..

21 x 213= 4468 mhz @ 1.45 Vcore

Now my ram i have @ 1.66 V (Rip jaws 1600 mhz) @ 1703 mhz due to 21 x 213 mhz...
Im gonna buy better ram soon.. mabye 2000 mhz ram or w.e..

Now for 950 max mult is 24.. i tried 24..23..22 mult to lower my ram mhz...
I tried:
23 x 195 = 4465 @ 1.45 v-core.. and didn't pass linpac test.. anyway the best pass was 21 x 213 @ 1.45 vcore... temps are great np.. now can anyone explain why mult 21 working best? not 24,22, or 23.. mult?!

Thnx again

Steve

Previous gen i7s loved 19 & 21x multis not all chips are the same though some will do fine with 24,23x ,etc and some won't but seems like your chip likes 21x so just work with that..

Ok.. 21 mult it is... now since i have 1600 mhz ram... 21 x 213 gets my ram @ 1703 mhz if im not mistaken... is that too much?... could be a reason causing some instability.. my temps r great... full load max = 61-62... .. wondering is my issue is the ram.. i changed my Dram v.. to 1.5 .. or tired 1.66 but didn't wanna stress it to much since the ram is not water cooled... if the ram is my issue.. what ram u suggest?

i had hyperX 12GB 1600 set the voltage at 1.63V and disabled vdroop. it worked. mine was also oc to 1700.

If your RAM is already at the 1.65v max "safe" voltage, and you get QPI/RAM related instability issues, try bumping the QPI voltage up a little.

Note that increasing the QPI voltage will create more heat in the CPU.
To get my i7-950 completely stable folding 24/7 at 4.3 Ghz, I also had to adjust the PLL and IOH voltages, and improve the cooling of the northbridge.
I'm running 23x187 @1.368vcore, with my ram at 1870mhz
I'm using much more expensive binned RAM though...... that I bought less than a month before the bottom fell out on RAM prices.lachen.gif
