if i go into the cpu advanced setting or whatever and i turn on a setting i can get it to show me 6 cpu and i can adjust on or off. but it doesn't change anything that i'm seeing. i'm going to update bios now. I need to step away from computer for little bit. i'll pull the cmos batt then update my bios. I'll post if i got this thing working. thanks for all the info. i'll make it work. worst case senario i'm due for a reformat. i'll do that.

I've encountered this a couple of times on different peoples computers which i help upgrade, just get your windows 7/windows xp cd/dvd and try to "repair" or search for any files, thats usually the way to go about it, no fresh install necessary.

So far this is what i have done.........
I did a cmos reset and installed newest bios. mine weren't the newest. I did the core unlocker and now it does say ***6 cores activates*** . In my bios i did find a option where i can turn cores on and off. As of now I still can't see cores weather its task manager or cpu-z . Or core temp, also my core temp isn't ready temp anymore. I have no clue why. i DL the newest one too.. my amd overdrive isn't reading temp either. The only thing i did inside the case was move the jumper to reset cmos. I don't know why my temps don't read now. guess thats where i'm at.

Might be a shot in the dark, but Go to Device manager (Right click my computer-> properties->devicemanager) and click the button that says scan for hardware changes?

Worth a shot for 5 seconds of work.
Or at least say what is listed there for cpu (Processors).

Open msconfig (Windows key + R then just msconfig)

Do the following:
441

Make sure the processor box is unchecked. It will likely only let you select up to 4 but uncheck it, hit OK and you reboot it will no longer force 4 cores.

Also... just "uninstall" the CPU from Device Manager and reboot.
Once again...

Core temp won't work with a core unlocker that's why it's not working for u, I think that u need to either fix windows or reinstall it to fix this problem.

ok going to try those things.. i've checked msconfig. says 4

To add what's already been suggested - do not use the 'unlocking' features on the motherboard (which you will find in the BIOS). That is for processors other than your X6. thumb.gif
