How to Overclock my AMD FX-6100 Six-Core Processor?

Thread Starter
I called HP and they told me to repeat tap F10 to boot into BIOS but, all I can do is see the CPU info and I can't figure out how to edit the multiplier. It's a pain. I may give up. I am so happy to have an unlocked processor but, mad because I can't figure out how to Overclock it and nobody seems to be able to tell me all the steps to take it from 3.30 GHz to 4.00 GHz. maybe someday I'll figure it out. After all, 3.30 is pretty fast. Also, if you change anything like the speed, it voids the warranty, although, I am 100% willing to do so if someone points me in the right direction and hooks me up with all the steps from beginning to end. smile. If anyone notices information on this for a first timer, please send it to me. I'd be forever grateful. Thank you! P.S. It an AMD FX-6100 Six-Core in an HP Pavilion HPE Series Desktop. The BIOS is a version 7

good news is, you can OC that cpu

bad news is, not a chance in a hot lake of fire that youll be able to do it on that system, if ur doing a prebuilt, i can 100% tell you, that your not gunna have the cooling, the VRM safe phases on your MOBO, and or the power supply constant, strong and relible enough to do it.

im 2000% serious, do NOT ATTEMPT, you will blow your computer apart, and unfortunatly, it would cost less to make a new system, then it would to make that OCable

also, after reading your other posts, it looks like, its more then possible that your mobo is locked (as in its not designed to OC on, so they lock options on it to preventing you from OCing, so u dont kill your mobo, alot of prebuilts are like this, sorry)

I totally agree with you ( hammerblow ) they purposely do that to protect themselves and any warranty claims, besides that would make it too easy for us!bike.gifmario.gif

The only pre-built systems that would even have options for overclocking would be Alienware, and I'm not even sure they are still in the business.

The quality of components in a pre-built just aren't there, and the cost, to them, just isn't worth the risk. Imagine every Tom, Dick and Harry trying to overclock his system and calling them to tell them they burnt it out; on top of that, the amount of time and cost it would take to sift through legit hardware failures.

the best thing you can do if you dead set on oc it is to replace the motherboard use everything eles but then you have voided your warrenty if your happy with the performance then save up talk on here and when the warrenty is up you will have formed a idal what way you want to go it took me over a year to get my 6 core buying a pice here and thier as I find a sell I payed 90.00 for a phoenom II x6 1090T
