Bottleneck for PC - Page 2

I'd say that your system now is well balanced. It's better to upgrade the GPU first though, the C2D will bottleneck it though.

Exactly. If you're sure you'll be upgrading your mobo/cpu "soon" (whatever your definition of soon is) get the 448 core, if you know you aren't going to get a 6850/70 or a 460/560 (non TI) for your system.

Have fun!

3930k@4.625ghz. I can't push more safely because I don't like vcore over 80 degrees and my ****ty cpu is already at 1.440v
On topic:
What's your total budget and where do you like to purchase things? (website area country etc.)
I think, depending on if you can afford a new cpu or a new cpu and mobo it'll differ, but a better gpu is necessary as it is the largest bottleneck.
If your budget is like $600-700 you can get a new cpu or mobo/cpu/gpu but if it's more like $100-200 a nice new gpu can be purchased.
Edit I see your budget is ~$300 but as least as possible.
Get a 6870/6850 or if you prefer nVidia a gtx 460/560 will be good it'll be a good upgrade and will be a perfect balance for your cpu. You could move to a quad core and crossfire or upgrade your mobo/cpu and crossfire later on.
If you don't mind used parts I'm sure you could pick up even a 570 here or a 6950 and use some cash to get a quad core.
I'd personally recommend this 560 ti 448 core . You will not see the full performance of it, so you can keep it at stock, then when you upgrade to ivy bridge you can oc it a good 100-150mhz on the core and at least 50mhz on the memory and even sli it smile.gif.
Whatever you decide to do, enjoy!

Well i've purchased a used GPU off ebay. it wasnt the 448 core but its still a GTX 560TI, PNY VCGGTX560TXPB-OC-BDL GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Fermi) 1Gb. I've filed my taxes, so my budged for the new build will be around 600$ all together. i've already got the ram for the new computer, i just need a MOBO, and a CPU and i'll be set

Well i got my new GPU in the mail today and i have to say im more than pleased with the proformance. I was literally playing BF3 on the absolute lowest settings with some very minor movement lag with my GTS 250, With the 560 TI im able to run the game on High/ultra with no issues. I've been considering buying a new board and CPU, but honestly im not sure if its really required.. i mean BF3 on High is more than acceptable for me.

For 1 or 2 years i doubt that there will be something that require more power than BF3 on high. Unless that game is not optimized of course so you just might want to wait for an upgrade for a year or two if your current rig is making you happy.

However upgrading components is a hobby or a diseasse, however you want to put it.

I bought my PC gaming rig few months back with being sure that i would be more than happy with it for 2 years. but in 3 months i changed

my GPU to 590 from 570 OC ( needed to have the best settings available for every game)
my keyboard and mouse (thought my older keyboard and mouse would just be fine but i was wrong)
mouse pad
60 hz monitor to 120 HZ 3D monitor ( thought my old 60 hz monitor would just be fine but again changed it with a 120 hz one)
even bought a soundcard ( i used to defend tht on board sound would be more than enough. How wrong i was)

I am now on the market to replace my headset and perhaps my keyboard. ( i like my new G110 keyboard from Logitech but the software has lots of issues for me)

I was going to go for mechanical but could not find one with brown cherry mx and backlight here in Turkey.

I saw that Razer widowmaker model i believe but it has blue cherry MX version in here, not the stealth. redface.gif

If it's acceptable to you! thumb.gif That's what matter's. I'm agreeing with 'All Of The Above'!
In short, Time to up-grade most your system. If you want a better gaming experience... I agree with you
wholeheartedly about the 60fps....But games will also look & react even better if you up-grade everything else..
Now you don't want to starve out your new 'GPU'. thumbsupsmiley.png
