Boot into safe mode and system restore? If you're a true overclocker and you disabled system restore (biggrin.gif), then uninstall that rapid storage patch and boot normally. I don't think you need that installed.

Have you tried setting your sata controllers to AHCI? I can't link source but I'm about 90% sure I read in the documents somewhere it needs raid + ahci or ahci for the RST to work.

*I know, I know.. I want to link a source, I just can't find it*

it's already in AHCI mode, it's an SSD

it gets stuck in the windows logo and never gets past it, it only was working just before I installed Intel Rapid Storage Technology 11.2.0.1006

I wanted to update the BIOS following these instructions from Asus website:

P8Z68-V BIOS 3603(for Win7 & Win8)
For proper operation, please ensure to update Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver to version 11.5.0.1207 and BIOS to version 3603 before enabling Intel Smart Response Technology.

Update procedure for users needing Intel Smart Response Technology:
(1) Enter OS, and ensure Intel Smart Response Technology has been turned off under Intel Rapid Storage Technology interface.
(2) Install version Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver to version 11.5.0.1207
(3) Reboot the system, and update BIOS to version 3603, then reboot.
(4) Enter the BIOS setup screen, press F5 to load BIOS default, then change the Intel SATA Port to RAID mode.
(5) Boot into OS, and re-enable Intel Smart Response Technology under Intel Rapid Storage Technology.

after step two. I restart the windows cause I couldn't get it to work without a restart, but then I got stuck with the logo screen..

I took the SSD to my brother's computer running AMD processor, I booted from it, uninstalled Rapid Storage Technology, returned the drive to my computer, still no luck... mad.gif

when I run startup repair it comes up with this error:
autofailover
baddriver

Should have clicked your rig link... Doh.

My question is the you why haven't you installed the new bios? That seems like you should be doing that after the RST install.. the OS is trying to make BIOS calls which aren't there, and its hanging waiting for a response.. So.. I would say.. update the bios to 3603?

updating the bios is done from the OS, which I can't get into in the first place!

Huh? No, its not?

Ok, even if that board has an option to update its BIOS from windows, you can still use a flash utility just after the post screen, can't you? Or a bootable USB to flash the bios?

You should be able to put the new BIOS on a USB stick and then flash it from the BIOS menu. It's the Asus EZ Flash option under the Tools menu. Of course, you'll need somewhere to download and transfer the BIOS to the USB stick.
