tablet noobie - looking for browser/ereader

Hey - I've never really looked into tablets at all. The idea of them seem pretty cool but they're kind of like my smart phone in which I only use it to browse the web whenever I am not home. Anyway - there might be a chance that I will be spending the summer away from a constant source of electricity/internet ect so I am looking for a tablet that is primarily an e-reader. I've gotten way out of touch with books and it's about time I get back with them xD.

Anyway - I cannot stand reading from a lcd screen for a long period of time so that means the kindle fire is out. My mother has a nook and I really like the way the display looks. It is really easy on the eyes and I could see myself reading comfortably with it. The problem is - I would like a device that would be able to surf the web and watch a movie or something. My biggest priorities will be to read COMFORTABLY - surfing the web - watch a video here and there - maybe discover some cool apps.

Also, I'm reading up on all this lingo with rooting a tablet. Basically you are just flashing a new OS onto it? If anyone could fill in that part it would be awesome xD.

With that said - what are my options of ran e-reader/tablet for $200? Does the nook color have that e-ink?? technology? If not - I would prefer to have an e-reader and tablet separately then. My eyes just can't handle focusing on a back lit screen for long periods of time.

There is an option on my kind fire that allows you to change the backlight to black for night reading. It is much easier on the eyes, but the E-ink is on a different level altogether. Im sure other tablets have this option as well.

I just got back from going out and playing with a few tablets. I can already say that I will need to get a dedicated e-reader and a dedicated tablet. Now which will be better - the nook or kindle? I wasn't entirely impressed with the kindle - way too much **** flashing around the screen - on the demo version anyway. Like I said, my mom has a nook and I think it's really nice. I just don't know which store has more books - kindle or nook.

As far as tablet - I'm thinking about going with either the acer a100 or a200/a500. The 7" tablets feel more natural to use but web browsing on them is a pita - also - I think watching videos would look better on a 3" bigger screen...........
