first of all i want a headset,
so should i simply go and grab a corsair 1300 .
Any more suggestions would also be appreciated.

Also a simple question that for such good headset a good sound card is required for the optimal performance..
Am i right ?

well i'm posting this post as curiosityonly.
If usb headsets/headphones are that bad then why some high end headphones/headsets have usb outputs. Like g35 , vengeance 1500 ...... ????

They aren't really high end tbh. They usually have virtual 7.1 surround, but nothing that is amazing sound. I owned a pair of G35's and at first I thought they were really great, but with time I relized they weren't as good as cheaper 3.5mm headphones. plus they were heavier and fell of my head if i looked down.

Because those aren't in any sort of way high end. Sure, they cost more than the $5 earbuds at the dollar store, but on a spectrum that goes all the way up to $5000 balanced armature cans, the g35 and v1500 are nothing. Couple that with the fact that their soul selling point is ignorant gamers, and you quickly discover why they can get away with USB.

Aww man... I have Owned the G35's and they sound great and are roomy for your ears, but they are heavy and fall off your head easily if you lean your head down. Also own the Corsair HS1A's and they aren't usb powered, but there is a usb version, but I would go with the newer Vengeance model over the Hs1's. I've looked at the Asus ROG Vulcans and they look just like the G35's and I expect they perform similarly. I originally was going to get Megalodons, but the G35's were on sale at the time. I'd probably go with the Corsair 1500's or Razer Megalodons. Corsair>Razer. thumb.gif just my 2cents.gif
