3x HD 6970's on a Corsair HX1050?

Thread Starter
Any ideas if 3x HD 6970's will run in Trifire powered by a HX1050? I built a rig for a friend last year and he wants me to help with adding a third card to his system since he uses Eyefinity. He does not have the money for a new PSU, just the card.

His CPU is an i7-2600k at 4.3GHz if that matters. 1 SSD, 1 HDD, 5 Fans, 1 ODD. Nothing else that draws a lot of power.

Any ideas?

Also, if they will run, what do you guys know about Powercolor? He got a good offer on one but I couldn't provide any information since I have not dealt with their RMA or GPU's.

HX1050 is fine for Tri-Fire 6970.

No idea about Powercolor but you can check it out here http://www.powercolor.com/us/default.asp

The HX1050 should be enough for 6970 tri-fire.

I had personal experience with Powercolor RMA and it went very smooth, UPS picked the package from my doorstep with everything payed for by Powercolor(I'm in Europe, service & support might differ in other locations).

On the PSU, is plenty for 2600K and three 6970s.
