First ever build, hope it turns out nice! - Page 3

I've made a post in the asrock owners club about this. If it can't work without a cpu I don't understand why it has error codes such as 'no cpu installed' lol. Not exactly what it says but it has alot of cpu related error codes as diagnostic on the mobo led. One fan is bad, it clicks no matter how I tinker with it. 8$ power-cooler fan. The other fans i can touch, press etc with no clicking.

Let me repond here. smile.gif

You need a processor for the mobo to work correctly CORRECTLY CORRECTLY CORRECTLY CORRECTLY period. lol! tongue.gif biggrin.gif

Of course because of this those error codes are going to come up.

Also the fan that's clicking deserves a return or exchange.

I don't think turning on motherboard without CPU is a good idea in the 1st place :/

Yes to work correctly but i'm sure most mobo's will at least beep if you try to power them on without a cpu. The point is no error codes came up at all. Dead as brick.

I don't really want to put an expensive cpu in a mobo that might be defective. We'll see what the asrock owners have to say about this. Maybe one can take out their cpu and try to power it on.

As for the fan, I didnt get a receipt. I went to what can best be described as a chaotic electronic flea market. Some random girl ran away for 20 mins and brought me the mobo, although I have a receipt for it... but it's really not where i'd like to purchase things from. But you can't buy everything on newegg, they didn't have it in stock. China...

Eye candy which show cases the best cable management ever! Cam makes it look orange but its normal red.

IF you STRONGLY suspect a dead mobo do the exchange with the merchant you purchased it from now hopefully they'll still be there - don't wait.

AMEN to that - totally agree!

Let me say this in this separate post:

Do your best to purchase computer hardware from a merchant that has a good return policy and will be there.

After that you'll have to deal with the company itself.

Like your mobo - if you can't do an exchange with the "musical chair - now you see me now you don't" merchant, you'll have to deal with ASRock RMA and hopefully that will go well as you purchased it at maybe an unauthorized reseller.

It's going to be a nightmare. Even without the language barrier, they won't want to give me a new one. And musical chair is a good analogy.

I hope the ripjaw ram wasn't fried too. It was connected to the mobo lol.

Otherwise I wasted like 200$ today.
