First ever build, hope it turns out nice! - Page 9

The Dr. Debug "A6" code mean's that under "Advanced", "Storage Configuration" your Storage device is running in "IDE mode", whereas it should be in "AHCI Mode".

The same error code came up on Dr.Debug for me, changing to AHCI mode solved it.

Is it normal for the silver arrow to, even once installed tightly, to be able to turn left or right like a clock? No matter how hard I tighten down the screws I can't get it to be 100% solid. Is it because it's just the slippery thermal paste inbetween?

Took out mobo, re-installed the silver arrow with both fans blowing towards back of the case. Back in, had to take off the top fan to get the 8 pin power back in. At least now I know how to do it, but this cooler is a hand full that is for sure.

Bios temps haven't changed though. 31c cpu temp, 22c mobo temp. Same temps when just one fan in the middle of the silver arrow. Weird?

Here some pics, it's coming together, no?

Let me know if there's something wrong with the air flow. It's a small case with 8 fans.

I guess I won't know the real cpu temps until I install windows. Some people say the bios temps are 10c higher than real temps. It's also kind of running as a 'test stand' since neither front or back sides are on. Not sure if that makes any difference though. But if i put my hand inside it feels like a wind tunnel biggrin.gif

Niiice, I kinda like that heatsink! I almost wish I would have bumped into it before a 212 EVO! oh well smile.gif

4.5? GHz? man, that there is a high overclock... I don't think you can get it with just air.... did you mean 3.5 maybe?

I didn't install the heatsink with the anti-vibration pads between fan and the heatsink... mainly because mine didn't come with any anti vibration pads! Well, it came with two rectuangular strips, am I supposed to cut them myself?

Also I think maybe I should just remove the rear 120mm fan... there's only 2cm between it and the big silver arrow fans and I'm thinking it can't be helping much if at all. Thoughts?

crucial m4 SSD coming today. Turned on all my heaters in the room, guesstimating that ambient temps are 12- 15c, bios says cpu 32.5 and mobo 23c.

hmm, if you don't have any intake fans, move that rear 120 to the front of the case as high as you can go (lower places tend to suck in more dust). If you do, just keep it there, it will help the CPU HS fans a lot.
stop worring so much about the BIOS temps, only be on your toes if it displays the same temps inside windows...
my bios temps once read 127C! I mean, that is higher than my oven!

OK, just to summarise the case has just one front input fan that is 140mm, two bottom 120mm intakes, two top 140mm exhausts, the two 140mm fans on the cooler both blowing to the rear and the rear 120mm behind the cooler. Haven't tried yet but probably another 140mm intake on the lower side blowing over gpu area. Give the high number of fans and the cooler I'd expect decent temps in windows after 4.5Ghz overclock. If not i'll take off the cooler (major PITA) and re-do the thermal paste etc or just remove some fans. Air fluid dynamics isn't a simple thing.

All this while using the tv and a vga cable lol, haven't decided on a monitor yet. Went for a 128gb crucial m4 btw thumb.gif.

You have to experiment which is the beauty of this case having fan configuration choices.

Please read the recent response by someone (if you haven't done so already) in the 690 thread. smile.gif

Going to probably re-apply the TIM tomorrow and change top fan to intake and remove rear 120mm exhaust fan. Let's see how that performs.

Anyway some first numbers... i like the idea of getting some numbers before making changes for the obvious reason lol thumb.gif
