Good temps now with a proper cooler, turn the turbo on which is like stock OC. It's interesting seeing this particular rig come together given it's history.

Members of the club who have the same cooler as me say I put the thermal paste on wrong and should re-do it... but that would require me to take the mobo out of the case which is a bit of a PITA.

If temps are good and its normal for one core to be slightly above the others then maybe I can get away with not re-mounting the cooler. In a bigger case it would be much easier.

I have 1 core that is 5c higher than the rest which are equal, rockin 4.2ghz stable and running smooth since oct 11'.

After reading up on the mobo bios on this site I've got it stable at 4.8GHz with 1.385v fixed voltage set in bios. This particular mobo has LLC and I set it to level 1 (it will up the voltage to between 1.39 and 1.4v at load) but this makes it stable during stress tests. Passed 6 hours of prime 95. I did re-apply the cooler with the pea size method of applying thermal paste. Not sure how much of a difference that made.

The case has positive pressure now with only one exhaust at the back and the top 140 fan infront of the cooler is intake, rear top 140mm is in there but not powered on.

Finally put on the front panel of the case. The back still isn't on as I haven't done all the cable management at the back yet. Might affect temps a bit once it's on, not sure how though (probably better as more of a wind tunnel then). Haven't put any side panel fans on although I could put a 140mm one in the lower opening.

Not going to shoot for 5GHz stable, happy with 4.8GHz. At stock I did a truecrypt benchmark and got 2.5Gb/s, now 3.6Gb/s. 44% improvment. That's why we over clock right? thumb.gif

Temps seem ok, should be able to cope with the Shanghai spring/summer heat.

Still undecided about gfx card.

The awesome thing is even during prime 95 blend with 90% ram used, I can use the computer as if its not busy at all.

Also would appreciate some recommendations on good mouse/keyboard. I vaguely remember seeing a 'razor' shop here in Shanghai. Both need to be wireless.
