Hopefully they don't start putting ads and other crap in the browser, keep it the way it is!

^This. I use Chrome 90% of the time. Still fire up Firefox some times as it has more features and add-on's.I have tried many other browsers including IE6-9 (shiver with disgust). Safari and opera are alright but at the end of the day chrome can run smoothly even with ridiculous amounts of tabs over long periods of time. I have like 20 tabs open for over a week and chrome still runs well. Try doing that with memory leaking FF biggrin.gif

Why?
Firefox is on par with Chrome
Both excel in different areas.
'Better' is subjective because browsers are about user experience
You may prefer the experience of chrome, but others prefer the experience of Firefox/Opera/IE etc

Microsoft deserves it for being lazy at making it an actual good browser after 9 versions.

I still like Firefox over Chrome, as I see it more customized, and overall better performance. I switch back to Chrome though because I got constant crashes with it, and I like the the GUI a little better.

People should stop using "memory leaks" as a buzz word. It doesn't mean what you think it means and it hurts your credibility.

I frequently use the following browsers: Firefox, Chromium, Opera, IE (when no alternative exists)

Firefox has some strange habits that I only recently discovered (had to use chromium for a few days). Without going into detail, when certain ISPs globally block certain protocols, Firefox's certificate verification will slowly choke.

For some of my purposes every browser except Firefox is actually borderline unusable.

Yeah, I remember getting true memory leaks with IDM - It's when a program assigns a part of your RAM for use, uses it, but never unassigns it, eg. with IDM every time a file finished it would use RAM to rebuild the file from 16 parts into 1, but never returned the RAM to the system - eventually you get to literately 0 usable RAM and your system lags to hell / crashes.

High memory usage in Firefox != Memory leaks

ps. some people might get actual memory leaks in Firefox, but I doubt it because I've never gotten any, and I've used every version of firefox, can't rule out incompatibility with other peoples' systems though)

I actually have all 3 browsers on my system and keep them fully updated, even tho chrome is my default. Since alot of government and school websites do NOT like chrome for some reason, they only like IE and FF lol. And it really annoys my gf cause she does online classes and that school denies chrome haha.

But from my experiences back when I tried chrome it did render web pages faster then FF, and it was REALLY noticeable when i got a fiber internet. Any more tho I think they all load web pages pretty fast even tho I still see IE on some pages screaming SCRIPT FAILED TO RUN or multiple errors where the other 2 dont have problems.

And as a browser FF and chrome are harder to screw up compared to IE when it comes to ppl that are not really knowledgeable about computers like say my mother and other family members besides my brother who is a IT at a hospital (his boss asks him for help to do his job all the time). Cause I love it every time i went to my moms and my niece always seemed to screw something up and it was because how IE handled web pages for secuirty purposed and get infected like crazy with viruses and what not. Since I installed FF on her desktop back around version 3.x it has yet to happen again thank god!mad.gif

I personally find myself using all 3, but chrome as my default, the speed, built in UI functions that really appeal to me (which i would need at least 5 different add ons in FF to come close), and works with my company's intranet sites.

the only reason chrome is getting popular is because tbey do what ms was supposed to do .evolve.ie 9 is still a great browser but ie 10 wont be enough .chrome team is just to agile.true in ie 9 you have a program you want gpu accelereted?it is just a mathe of putting the name.exe in proper place and telling said registering enable gpu acceleration(1).yes it is stupidly simple.i am surprised not many software have done this yet(probably to lazy to go edit the ie registery.ie9 is still very far ahead but i suspect most chrome gpu acceleration issue will be fixed by 20 .if chrome every invented a solution to unlock the various 60 hertz limit in publicity and made sure gpu acceleration for publicity worked they would be untoucjable even by ms.caching in disk is a huge nono.sadly everybody do it .

You have to realize a large portion of people on this website now would rather use buzzwords and recite what they have read by other posters instead of forming their own opinions through experience.
