I did it! My first ever volt mod. I wish I had taken pics. It totally works, I booted up ran prime95 and it was hitting 1.68 vcore with the bios set to 1.6 then it blew the PSU POP! I downed it to 1.58 vcore in the bios it still touches 1.73 vcore but, temps are decent.... for a Prescott, 66C. I left it testing haven't seen it since. all i need to do now is perhaps OC it assuming it doesn't need a vdimm mod. It was really unstable before hopefully this fixes it.
I'm really proud of my self my soldering skills are improving not only did i get wire on the solder points i used the fattest roundest tip we have, i like it the most because it takes high temps like a champ and it always tins no matter long you let it sit. The best part is the vmod doesn't look all ghetto. I used two twisted strands of round ide cable and when i was done, hot glued my solder points, bundled them up with a tiny sliver electrical tape in to a nice neat bow and hot glued the POT in between the PS2 ports and S/PDIF port . some of the hot glue ran a little when gluing in the pot but, it is totally not noticeable seeing as it is an old P4 build and there was no wire management back then plus the fact I put in a big honk'n Thermaltake Big Typhoon.
