How do I clean a keyboard easily. (really dumb situation) - Page 2

I was thinking mineral oil, but that would be a mess to clean, I was wondering if there was an easier way other then taking the whole thing apart that I could do?

This is basically why I've restricted myself from buying a mechanical or any keyboard that costs more than $15. I can't be trusted! drunken.gif

Don't use isopropyl alochol because it can take off the plastic coating on the keys and surface. Use a damp towel with mild soapy water.

On the contacts and rube dome this wouldn't be an issue. The keys yes.

you should just take this opportunity as a time to completely clean your keyboard and pop all the keys off and let it soak in water + soap.

Paper towel then Cuetips + Isopropyl is what I did when my cat spilled a whole smoothie in my keyboard.

For cleaning keyboards. I just remove all the keys and use some q tips or a towel+screw driver and clean the base with rubbing alcohol. For the key caps, you can dump them into bowl or something filed with soap or you can brush each of them.

if the liquid did went into the rubber membrane, then you would need to open it up.

I just recently cleaned my G15v2 (sold), and was surpised to see a small drain hole, didnt noticed that before.

I would also recommend just getting a damp microfiber cloth and rubbing/wiping the affect area. Just let it dry for an hour or two and check to see if it's still sticky, if not it should be good to go! This is what I did for my old Razer Lycosa. I can't do that for my Race, but I'm being extra careful with it. Good luck!thumb.gif

Glad someone made this thread and i want to know if someone can clarify why and how can you wash your keyboard with soap and water? Wouldn't that ruin the machine parts inside the keyboard?

I have been wanting to clean my keyboard but i can clean it and take the keys off just fine. I just CAN'T get all those annoying cat hairs out. I can't just like unplug my usb and put my whole keyboard in the sink and turn on the water can i? Wouldn't it ruin it?! Is there a proper solution to clean mechanical keyboards? I am using a Razer Black Window Ultimate keyboard and always wondered how can i clean this?!

The hair is a problem. I just can't get them out of my keyboard. I tried using microfiber and it just won't come off. I even tried a spray air compressor. Doesn't really help. Is there a faster way to get the whole thing cleaned?

But the moot point is the sink situation i wanna know.

So sorry i clicked the wrong tab. Man i must be thinking too much today. I meant to edit but no it quoted lol.
