I guess I could throw in my input as well tongue.gif

On many machines, an SSD will definitely make it feel quicker. If you're like me and you shut your computer down every night and boot it every morning (mine's a bit hot and loud and in my room), you'll love it. It shuts down quicker, starts quicker, and opening any application on the drive is almost instant.

I convinced my mom to get one (even before I had one) and she couldn't stop raving about how much quicker it felt.

There are definitely times when you won't notice but I think the majority of users will take quite a liking to it.

I just got an ssd, and to be honest, im kinda regretting it. Now by no means am i saying ssd's suck, because i like having faster load times. But for the price of them, is 80-150 dollars really worth 20 seconds taken off your boot time? Like someone said earlier, if they ever drop to around $.50/gb, then i would feel perfectly fine buying one.

SSD is far faster than mechanical HDD. I use mine for my OS and a couple applications and games, and my bigger drives are used for storage purpose. The prices on them are high, but go back to when the first TB drive came out how much did that run? The trade off of paying for space is paying for speed. I also feel that Sata III was primarily deisgned for SSD because you're not going to get a mechanical drive to perform as well as a SSD at 6.0Gb/s speeds. It's no different than engine size or the type of fuel you use in the car, what you're willing to pay along with need determines what you're going to do.

Don't know what kind of system you're working with. You should use the rigbuilder and attach a rig to your signature. For $100 you'll probably have to settle around the 60GB range SSD. My preference is the Corsair Force GT drives however they work best with the Intel chipet and Sata III port due to the controller. If your board has a Marvell controller than it's better to go with something like a Crucial M4.

Corsair Force GT 60GB is $110 at Newegg ($90 after MIR, which you must have postmarked within something like 21 days) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233193

Crucial M4 64GB is $95 at Newegg http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148441

totally throw in $40 more and get this, don't be cheap like me!
90GB should cover your OS, all basic programs, and at least 3 of your favorite games
