Side fan no longer fits due to HSF. Should I leave vent open or shut?

I am trying to find the general consensus for what to do with cases that have no fan installed on its side vent. I had to take mine off b/c my Zalman 9900Max does not fit with it installed. So, would leaving it open negatively impact my temperature? Should I keep it sealed? I currently have a 120 intake on the front, and a 120 exhaust on the back of the case. As a precaution I already sealed the vent and my temperatures are decent, but it is not very aesthetically pleasing. I would rather leave it open as long as my temps are not affected (or in best case scenario, improved). The vent has a screen on it that would help prevent dust. What do you guys think? Any suggestions or ideas?

Leave it open and add some cheap washable filter to it on the inside.

Well, I opened the vent, and the temp remained just about the same. Under stress, the GPU gained maybe 1 degree, but that could also just be a fluke. So at least it looks better and I'm achieving the same temps!

Thank you for the advice hednik.
