Opteron in a Gaming rig. - Page 4

Okay everyone, new question, it says Opterons are 1Ghz HT FSB, which at first I assumed it was double pumped, but I looked on Newegg, and all of them report 1000Mhz FSb, while the Athlons have 2000Mhz FSb. does that mean Opty's only have 500Mhz Hyper Transport?

You should be able to get around 2.4GHz completely stable with 1.35-1.40 volts and if you are using more then that it will not help stability and just drive your temps up. Are you running your memory on a divider? That might be a limitation if you are not. Do you have your chipset voltage a little higher then stock, like 1.6 or 1.7 volts? Are you keeping your HTT multiplier in accordance with your HT(FSB) to ensure it remains at 1000MHz or less? I know this is off an a tangent from the original intention of this thread, but I would like to see you realize the full potential of your Opteron.
The voltage is set to 1.5 in the bios i think, but it is only at 1.425 - 1.475 in Cpu-z. i think i need a power supply to even it out nicer before i clock up. I have G.Skill ram, it is at 1:1, i think the HTT and chipsets are right, ill check later when i have more time.

Thanks for trying to help me with my opty!

No, they are still the same as a A64, might be a typo.

it wasn't just Newegg either, I think Zip Zoom Fly also reported 2Ghz FSB for Athlons and 1Ghz Opterons, but I'll take your word for it.

The opteron processors follow the same HT as far as i know. When something says (800mhz)1600mhz the effective rate is 1600mhz. In this case I think the correct notation as you are looking for is (1000mhz)2000mhz.

Correct me if i am wrong.
