Especially with use of all the audio editing programs that they have the Mac and the ease of use it would suit her the best.
As for that you might consider a DAC if the integrated audio is not sufficient.
Creative offers their own version of USB Sound Cards
Avid/M-Audio has a few interfaces with Protools which she can try out.

Thats an example of the DACs.

Macs costs a **** ton of money, which she doesn't have. Also, everyone has a Mac (what is cool about being like everyone else?).

When you guys say.. "MACS ARE SO MUCH EASIER TO WORK WITH". . What exactly do you mean? I have been doing a lot of graphics **** on my beast and it EATS all of my girls co-worker's Macs for breakfast when it comes to rendering times and stuff like that. Also, I have ZERO probs with software. However, all of the designers swear by Apple even after I show them the STATS and numbers side by side. So I do know for a fact there is a cult like following with Apples that avoid's reason to some extent. I mean, I understand that sort of thing. But I just want to know if there is any substance to this talk of, "Apple FTW". Seriously, on paper there is NO reason to go Apple. But please, correct me if I am wrong.

She will be doing a lot of work on FruityLoops 10 and Reason 6. Integrated audio SHOULD suffice. 2.1 should suit her fine yeah?

Planar ftw.

I have no say in this matter but the price is what counts to her and as both are well above her budget.. She will have to keep dreaming. Or start hooking on El Cajon Blvd LOL.

Okay you say that we can EASILY find a $500-$600 i7. . Let's clear this up please, can you provide us with some links? I have been searching and I can not say it is exactly EASY.

Also, what are the best $150-$250 headphones you guys say?

Thanks!

For $150-250 there a lot of choices, but it comes down to preference.

If she's going to be doing a lot of editing wouldn't she want studio headphones?

Imo, I would just tell you to find a cheap decent laptop, cause unless you oush out for a mac, the audio on most lappies are similar. So spend more on a external DAC and amp like O2 or the Fiio E11/7 combo and good cans like grados, senns, ATs, Beyer, something good.

Well some people just prefer the Mac's UI.
Ease for installing applications via the Mac App Store.
Support /w Genius at the Apple Stores.
Syncing with iDevices without problems on Windows PC's.
And the look of Macs.

Personally if I had money to blow i'd get a Mac but I guess going by your needs a good 400-600 dollar ASUS Laptop would do great.
If not a Lenovo.

The one this is getting Logic Pro, and Final Cut Pro on the MAC that is not avaliable on Windows.
Although there is a Windows version of ProTools there is not alot of people that I have seen using it.
~~Besides the one thing i've seen girls do the most when roaming the Apple store is go on iPhoto and camwhore.~~

Go for an Asus, Lenovo, or Samsung laptop.

Grab an external DAC and amp as mentioned.

Grab some nice headphones. I'd suggest checking out www.head-fi.org under "Head Gear" for some good choices.

You could easily save yourself money by going that route than going the Mac route. She'll love the sound from the headphones as well.

Going the Mac route you'd probably have to save up for the additional sound equipment.

I laugh at the people who think you need a Mac just because they are interested in music and is in school lolz so funny
