that is all i would buy from microcenter!

gskill sniper 8 gigs newegg presidents day sale, has it at 40 dollars!
lg dvd burner newegg 15.99
cm 212 evo newegg 35
nzxt source 210 steel newegg 49.99
antec earthwatts green 430 newegg 39.99
64 gb m4 newegg 79.99

leaves you with 289.05 for video cards, so you still should go with the below vid card choices:

pick one i used the 560 ti for budgeting purpose as it was more expensive
xfx 6950 2gb newegg 254.99 after mir
msi 560 ti 448 twin frozr 3 oc newegg 265 after mir

so after the 560 ti 448 you have 24.05 left to cover taxes at microcenter. this is ofcourse if you have a hard drive external or something to use for storage.

Lets see...

Swap RAM for 2 sticks of these - $47.98
Remove CPU cooler, run stock cooler for now (add one later), saves $35 there (the CPU will do 4.0 on the stock cooler)
Source 210 for $39.99 + 7.99 shipping (saves $2 there)
Remove the SSD if he's got a hard drive already (you can always add a SSD later)

That puts us at about $400 for a graphics card now. Which means he's only $50 short of this beast.

I wonder if we can do this..... thinking.gif

If we can't....then at least swap the RAM out for the Samsung sticks...they're amazing! Leave the rest of the build as is, and grab that sweet 560Ti 448c. That's a solid GPU.

theres really nowhere to scrape anymore savings after what ya just did, he gonna come up just too short. itd be fine to swap for those samsun sticks, i dont know anything about em tho lol. just went with the sniper cause their gskill and cheap

EDIT: HOWEVER! if he was to call newegg and talk to them about the situation that might eat the shipping, and give him a promo code that would free up even more cash to make it possible to ge the beast you linked!

Never heard of newegg cutting prices due to a phone call. Hmmm.....

Those Samsung sticks are 30nm instead of the standard 40nm. They're WELL known to do 2133 @ 9-10-9-28 timings with around 1.50-1.60v. I got my sticks to 2200 in my sig system at 9-11-10-28-2T, 1.48v (16GB worth of those Samsung sticks). Several people report 2400-2500 out of them on other setups (1155 is kind of limited to the 2133 divider).

OP:

If you can buy parts of it today, the i7 2700k is $179.99 at MC. Just bring them the ad, they'll honor it. And the board that Vortaku linked is only $70 if you buy as a combo. wink.gif

Get this case instead. Same price, just have to order it from here and you get if it for $50. It doesn't have USB 3.0 in the front, but you can always do that out the back of the motherboard.

It is the case I have, and it is amazing. Great cable routing, plenty of airflow, LOTS of room.

I used it in my laptop a while and think the only speed increase was because i went from 5400rpm to 7200rpm.
I wouldnt rule out a good 7200rpm 2.5" drive, I was thinking about using my momentux xt 2.5" in my desktop since I removed the HDD bays for radiator space, but luckily I was able to put both my hard drives in the 5.25" drive area thumb.gif

If it's storage 7200 doesn't matter. Thus even cheaper.

Yeah I believe we agree. Storage is storage so long as its accessed in the same speeds, physical size doesnt matter, my two 7200rpm drives (2.5 and 3.5) were super close in speed to eachother where im sure you couldnt feel the difference.
