Wow. alot of good information here guys. We are going to hit up the Mirco center tomorrow to purchase the CPU from them, hopefull they have motherboard combo for $50 as well.

He doesnt have a harddrive to use his old computer is like 8years old =X, however Im going to see if he wants a SSD and then give him one of my spare 250gb to hold him off for a while. Im at work right now but ill post again tonight on what we decide for you guys to last minute check thumb.gif

Don't call MC. Just go get your stuff, bring the coupon with you, and present it at check out. If they refuse, be nice about it until you get your way. If they flat out will NOT do it....just say "fine" and go grab the 2500k.

They'll tell you no over the phone regardless. You have to be IN the store to get something like that to work. wink.gif

2500k microcenter $180
asus p8z68-v lx microcenter $70

Is what we will pick up at microcenter tomorrow. They also do price matching with newegg. When I built my i7 930 system last year I got another 5% off from micro center for my whole build was over 1k. Imma ask for that again when we build his. Im trying to one stop shop with them price matching new egg.

Everything we get will be same or equilavent to what Vortaku posted.

Build should be around 800~ when I add the SSD, and downgrade his power supply to around 550w.

Okay good news and bad news..

Good news is we finished buying and building his computer and hes very happy thumb.gif
Bad news is that Micro Center refused to price match new egg anymore mad.gif

Its okay because we still made it out of there within budget and my friend is very happy with his new computer replacing a 8 year old model.
I just finished building the PC. Here is what he bought. The dude went a little buying happy as he picked up a 24" Samsung LED monitor as well. lol

Intel i5 2500k - 179.99
Asus P6Z68-V LX - 69.99
Kingston Hyper X Memory 8GB DD3 - 34.99
XFX Radeon HD6870 - 169.99 *after rebate* **** I WANTED HIM TO GET THE 560 TI! but the P6Z68 only supports Crossfire ****
Antec 620W Power Supply - 75.99
OCZ 128GB SSD PETROL - 109.99 *after rebate*
Samsung DVD/RW - 18.99
Cool masters HAF ATX Case - 84.99 *after rebate*

Total: 744.92 before tax and after rebates.

And yes I told him if we got some of the other parts at new egg it would of been a little more cheaper, but he really wanted the PC done today.

Thanks for everyones help. He has a decent computer which he doesnt want to Overclock and is Crossfire ready with a SSD.thumb.gif
