system check virus? err..malwarebytes isn't so good
i'd just delete everything connected to the virus and run ccleaner

i've spent the past few hours in safe mode. so, the 0xc0000005 error kinda fixed itself somehow, but now i have the google redirect virus. i think it has to do with some rootkit, but i can't get tdsskiller.exe to run. i try run as administrator in normal and safe mode, get the do you want to continue message, and then nothing..

Given the symptoms you have described, I would personally recommend a reformat. Remember to backup any documents you may wish to keep. I do not recommend backing up programs or installed games.

Is it possible to avoid a reformat? If not how can i reformat witgout the oen cd or whstever?

EDIT: also, how can i back up my data safely? is it okay to transfer my files to an external drive, do a clean install of windows, and scan the drive with mse and malwarebytes? will that be enough or is there more i need to do?

i am fed up with this crap and will do a clean install of oem vista or buy windows 7.
