Syrillian Techbench build (picture heavy)

Thread Starter
this is a cross post from the folding forum. sorry for that but i figured an actual build log here would get me more ideas and responces

First i would like to thank smasher basher for picking me in the freebie section to have this tech bench. thumb.gif

i said i would post pictures of it when i got it..... woops tongue.gif

ok it started its life out rough, i got it from smasherbasher, he packed it really nicely but alas fedex broked it mad.gif

i didnt want to contact fedex for insurance because they may have taken it from me and just gave smasher the insurance money. nothing i was willing to risk

SUPERGLUE saved the day rolleyes.gif

ORIGINAL BUILD SPECS
amd athlon x2 4200+
Asus Crosshair
Corsair xms2 800 2gbs (2x1gb) WITH LED's!
xfx 9800gtx
2 samsung 2tb drives raid 1

built it with old parts, mobo is dead mad.gif
yet another set back

SO i went to frys (where i work) and got a new setup
amd phenon II x2 565 BE
Asus m5a97 MOBO
and put on a zalman heatsink ive had laying around for years
corsair xms3 cas7 1600mhz ram 2x2gb (was from my x58 setup)

at this point i was fairly content until i got the itch for more!

the case didnt have a power button so i had to drill a hole and install a momentary switch, i also installed a cmos reset switch i had laying around from a prize i won at a lan!

rdhbU.jpg

this case also didnt have any real place to mount hard drives, so i went out and got 2 6"x6" sheets up lexan/plexi and made my own. it was very simple and holds 4 hdd's like a champ

I got a 8gb kingston kit of ram for $12 at work!!!! after rebate of course tongue.gif

i had a ek graphics card universal block i had laying around and also a danger den mx(something) cpu block that wasnt being used.

so at this point i said i want to fold on this computer 24/7 and what better way to treat it then getting it under water!

i ended up getting a pump and radiator from the for sale forums (THANKS RonindeBeatrice!!!!!!)

i ordered a phobya 250mm reservoir, tubing, and PURPLE DYE!!!! from frozencpu.com

(dont get into a dye is bad debate, i know the risks, but this is a special build and requires special lovin tongue.gif)

this is where the build sits right now
the reservoir and everything come tomorrow morning and i will update tomorrow. the core unlocks to a b60 quad stable, so i will overclock it unlocked and see where it can go as far as ppd gets. im hoping the dual 120 rad i got will withstand the heat from folding on a gpu and processor. its in a push pull configuration so we shall see.

i hope you guys enjoy this, sorry it took so long

let me know what you think and do not hesitate to ask questions or throw out suggestions!

Alright so next update!

i got my stuff in the mail this afternoon!
LETS GET SOME PICTURES GOIN thumb.gif

Under full load my old antec 500 was SCREAMIN!!!!!

So i had to go get a new psu mad.gif
picked this up at frys pretty cheap:thumb:

after re installing the PSU i was able to snap some more pictures

i was able to unlock the amd 565 to a b60 x4. i got it to 3.8ghz at 1.51volts

the core temps dont show up but cpu temp never goes over 35*c while using intel burn test.so i think we are safe there

let me know if you want any more details or any other pictures, i want to get black sata cables and then sleeve the whole psu but im going to have to wait for a little bit more money! plus that tool is super expensive for what it does!!!!!!!!!!!
