The x1900xt 256MB hands down beat the 7900GTO in most tests.

I'm not sure about those benchies yimnvs. Take the oblivion benchmarks for example. They have the X1900XT nearly doubling the score of the 7900GTX. I'd say there is something fishy going on. LOVE the GTO cooler. SEXC.

The eVGA warranty pwns though, well worth the few fps lost to the X1900XT in some tests.

I think the Oblivion benchmark is true, its made from DX9 not GL and I remember hearing that nVidia 7900's card didnt like oblivion, so it seems right on all other benchies. Here's those benchies of the popular, high res:

The only benchmark the 7900GTO beats the X1900XT 256MB is in Quake 4 by only 0.2fps (Open GL), so take your pick . Also the cheapest 512MB 7900GTO i found here was £154 where the cheapest 256MB X1900XT card I found was £145. The thing is: Will the extra 256MB memory on the 7900GTO be better in the long run? I dont know.

And then OC'ed:

It's a tough choice; pick what is right for you depending on your needs. The 7900GTO has 512mb memory which is tempting because its future-proof to your conscious XD. Despite the 256mb memory, the x1900xt is a better performer with the 48 shader processors and has better image quality. Updating from a 6800GS to the x1900xt 256, I've found the IQ in games to be much much more detailed and sexy. However, you might want to get an aftermarket cooler for the x1900xt; the zalman vf900 is a nice one. I would have picked the 7900GTO with 512mb if I know I wont update to another card for some time...but i do update pretty often...so i dont care about the 512mb memory, and that is why i bought the x1900xt 256mb instead.

Stock x1900xt: i got 9800 in 3dmark05, overclocked the core a little and got 10,061.

<---Not planning to upgrade to DX10 cards until vista is stable enough. My next upgrade most likely be a GX2 for cheaper after the 8 series come out.

I think I'd go for the 7900GTO, simply because I friend of mine has one, and he overclocked it well past 7900GTX speeds...
