I currently have a sapphire 6970 overclocked, I am contemplating selling and upgrading to the 7970

I play on a 24" fullHD 60hz monitor so the question is: Is it worth upgrading now or should I hold off until Kepler?

24" doesn't matter. Is it 1080p? or 1920x1200? If it's only one of those I'd say stick w/ what you got. Upgrade when prices fall.

Question is, does the 6970 not satisfy you in games and such?

If you have the money, yes. If not, no. It is faster, what can I say?

Doesn't play all games on maxed at settings e.g the frame rate for arkham city is quiet low (45-high 50's fps)

What I also want to know is if people think the price of 7970 will be lowered once kepler is released

I upgraded from 6950s to 7970s, but unless you're using large resolutions or 120hz monitor there's not a lot of reason.

are you the kind of person who buys the newest thing for the sake of having the newest thing?

if yes-
why are you even asking? of course you should get the 7970. you should also get a 3960x. and one of ocz's revodrives.

if no-
hold off. there is no reason to upgrade now; the prices are inflated by high demand from people who are serial upgraders and not budget conscious at all.

plus, chances are that the 6970's will drop in price soon, meaning you could upgrade to SLI wayy cheaper than buying a new card, and you'd get better performance.

the 6970 is often a card that will leave you wanting slightly more when it comes to fps. it does very well, but the 7970 will future proof you, and when well overclocked, it hits like 75% of a 6990.
i would do it, and id maybe buy ur card smile.gif
