hi guys,
i have just installed a new samsung spinspoint f3 1tb hard drive, have installed windows 7 on it. in the bios i changed the IDE to AHCI and enabled the ACPI 2.0 which i have never done or knew about theses settings b4.

i have install all windows updates and sp1 fine, i have installed the AMD northbidge and southbridge drives and the amd graphcs drivers/profiles. the cool n quiet driver also.

my anti virus is installed fine. i started to add ccleaner/draggler which i always install fine.
also i install the directx from mirco soft. then steam and then i started to install the game Skyrim and it got to the last 30secs of the install and then the Blue Screen of death happened?

i never had it happen to me b4, i download whocrashed but don`t really know what the results are or where to go from here.
here they are . . .

On Thu 16/02/2012 21:00:58 GMT your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\021612-27690-01.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: ntoskrnl.exe (nt+0x7CC40)
Bugcheck code: 0xA (0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF, 0x2, 0x1, 0xFFFFF80002CC93A2)
Error: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
file path: C:\Windows\system32\ntoskrnl.exe
product: Microsoft® Windows® Operating System
company: Microsoft Corporation
description: NT Kernel & System
Bug check description: This indicates that Microsoft Windows or a kernel-mode driver accessed paged memory at DISPATCH_LEVEL or above.
This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem.
The crash took place in the Windows kernel. Possibly this problem is caused by another driver which cannot be identified at this time.

Hello smile.gif

As this is rather straight forward given your circumstance, I won't ask for dumps just yet. You mentioned you have made changes in the BIOS that you have never done before and that you are unfamiliar with. I can only assume before you made these changes Windows was working as intended on your old drive?

Regardless, I would recommend reverting these settings, yes. If the issues disappear, you know that was the cause, if not, well then we have bigger fish to fry.

Hi there
Sorry for getting back to you late. The only settings i have changed I the bios was the IDE to AHCI and enabled ACPI 2.0. I did this b4 installing windows 7. Are you saying I can only use IDE? At the moment my of is in a shop being looked at because I didn't know what else to do.

You can disable ACPI 2.0 and see if your BSOD's go away. If they don't, come back to us.
