The current price on the FX is not worth it in my opinion.

Core i7 3770K : But this is? hehehe

Sorry about the spelling, not my strongest side in english, mutch better in norwegian ;-) Buldozer, hehe.
I dont hide that i am in love whit amd( sweet amiga, why did you perish!? My a500 i still working like a charm) and so on not that objective. But even I have got the impression that intel curently has the best performace vs price in the i2500k/i2600k.

But when it comes to gaming( I dont care about folding etc, never done it, don't want to start, I just get addicted, hehe) do you think that buldozer would improve when games start support more cores efficently? Or is it allready perfoming good enough to run best availeble gpu whitout bottlenecking?

Im not about to upgrade, my athlon x3 does the jobb i want it to do just fine. Playing on 1600x900,have no prob going down to 1280x720 if i have to, so hopefully I dont need to upgrade anything before 2 year. Im just curious about the subject amd and im going to stick whit them as long as they deliver cheap "good enough" gaming cpu. Has to switch from nvidia to radeon when i upgrade, just to support them, hehe!

But do anyone has an big article or a book about the cpu development last 4 year and whats likely to happend in next 4?

Thanks for every inputt!

cheers.gif

Don't worry about the spelling part due I was just curious you kept on writing buldoser for the last few post even some people replied bulldozer in proper name. lol This is what I said "Not sure if serious".

The fact I'm going for Ivy Bridge because of the power consumption. Yeah... you can call me tree hugger. =P

I would stick to AMD if FX hasn't deceived me. Maybe Piledrive would give a better performances but again, I am in need of a new rig since I sold my old one. The Ivy is just around the corner with +/- prices vs Sandy Bridge... I'll say why not?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but bulldozer isn't a "true" octa-core, right? It has 4 bulldozer modules, and each of those modules has 2 cores but those 2 cores share the same FPU and cache. Also, you can't compare different processors based on their clockspeed and number of cores alone.

Yes, Intel currently has the best CPU's on the market. But I'd be really disappointed if they didn't considering that amd's budget can't even be compared to Intel's. Still, hoping that piledriver will deliver... Bulldozer is entirely new architecture which means that there really isn't much support/optimizations yet. I think they were talking about performance increases on Windows 8 or something..?
8150 isn't a true 8 core though. the 8150 has 4 module cores 8 interger cores. they're just like the i7-2600k basically. but obviously way slower. i think the only true 6 and 8 core cpu's are the operton server class cpu's.

Not quite as the 2600k has only 4 physical cores whereas the 8120/8150 have 8.

2600k has 4 integer and 4 FP cores, each which run two thread.

8150 has 8 integer cores, and 4 FP cores. Each integer core runs a thread and each FP share two threads, but not as efficiently as 2600k.

Not sure what you mean, if you mean benchmarks, google "Anandtech cpu benchmark". If you want info on coming processors, the little there is can be found by googling "Haswell, Ivy bridge, AMD Piledriver, Intel roadmap" etc.

http://www.overclock.net/t/1213342/return-of-the-return-of-amd-fx-my-ocd-amd-fx-8150-review-with-ocd-6990-daily-results

I'll let you all read this and stop judging bulldozer on bias info..... My fx-4100 runs circles around my friends Phenom x4 and holds its ground with a Phenom x6 110t @ 4.1Ghz, with mine @ 4.622 Ghz Both with similiar gx quality and GX settings @ Same Resolutions. Take it or leave theirs my thoughts on Bulldozer, and may Piledriver Come back with the FX's name after XOP is fully implemented........
