Piledriver is in Q1 2013, I'm not sure if you're going to wait that long. Windows 8 will be releasing right after Ivy Bridge is out so most OEM will have the latest hardwares and Windows for back to school sales insanity.

Right now AMD is stuck with Bulldozer in 2012, and good possibility they might be releasing FX-8170 one.

take it with a grain of salt but wiki is saying later this year 8350.... hopefully its true. maybe there will be some changes.

Right, I might have forgotten about that. Thanks, I remember I read about it somewhere.

The core performance will be the same for BD, multi-core support should be better but not world's away. Windows 8 wii probably improve the BD performance by ~5% according to the most recent tests I've seen done on the W8 builds. After 2 years, I would guess that BD will perform at best 10% better, which is still not enough to even come close to beating the i5 2500k in terms of gaming, though it will probably start to clearly edge the i5 in terms of multi-threaded performance.

The i5 is clearly the better choice, but it seems you've already made your mind, and that you really want to go with AMD. In that case, you should just do what you really want to do. The FX is still an okay processor.

To all who are curious about bulldozer vs. comparable processors someone on OCN has been kind enough to test just about EVERYTHING refer to this thread.

You saw it,hehe! I ALMOST have made up my mind, and it isnt before my current rigg cant play on ultra 2x aa 720p 20" im going to upgrade. But I was just confused that an 4core intel can beat an 8 core amd, but as i now understand the fx isnt an 8 core in the term I was thinking, making it more like the i2600k.

But now I got some names to google, going to do some more reaserch on this. I will not give up the posibility that this is an monster in sheeps cloathing, hehe cheers.gif

I think this is the time where I should start gloating!

Intel fanboys, read this. It is not as bad as you will have it!

It's almost time for you to get 1080p the least... I'm not sure if I can survive with 720p monitor anymore. For instant I am force to play at 1024 x 768 SWTOR on my macbook pro since I don't have a rig for the moment.

Since I'm not used to that resolution, everything is so cramped... to me.

To make a long answer short...

Yes, when softwares and the OS have the instructions to utilize the processor efficiently.

Presently they do not.

AMD Interlagos Opterons come with 8 modules (16APU, 8FPU)

Interlagos are going to be one badazz cpu, oh yeah!

You do realize that the cloud is much more than just Data Storage correct? They are also a business model and offer services far above and beyond just data storage, sheeze...

Hehe, I use 1600x900 on all other games than bf3. My gtx 460 768mb cant manage 2x aa if i dont go down to 1280x720 but then i can use ultra, so I think it looks better than medium/high 0aa on 1600x900. But did you know that above 720p, if you dont get used to anything higer, it is almost the same? You can "convert" down as well, but it takes long time before you get used to the lower res. So im not going to spoil my eyes whit higher res than 1600x900,hehe.
