[DT]Laser scanner may allow passengers to bring liquids on planes again

Since the 2006 Transportation Security Administration (TSA)’s ban on liquids in passenger carry-ons, travelers nationwide have faced the issue of getting anything from bottled drinks to expensive skincare tossed in the trash before being allowed to board the aircraft. Combine this with the rising fares of checking bags, bringing liquids on a flight has become an increasingly frustrating and expensive task. That’s why a company in the United Kingdom developed a laser scanner that could potentially assess the danger level of liquid containers so passengers may once again carry liquids onboard.

so now when I buy a plane ticket I'll have to share the expense of ten's of thousands of dollars in laser scanners....just so I can save five bucks on having to buy my water inside the terminal? great plan.

Terrorists are pretty smart if they can blow up a plane using a tube of tooth paste.

It seems like the idea of toothpaste explosives has been around for a while. James Bond had some smart people creating gadgets for him!

Licence to Kill, released in 1989

Dentonite Toothpaste
Plastic explosives disguised as ordinary toothpaste. The receiver that picks up the signal from Bond to blow the explosives is disguised as a packet of cigarettes.
