But, but, but!!! They DID copy Android! You have to believe me!

Sorry, there's no drop down in this: t-mobile-g1-review-status-bar.jpg

You seem to think that Android invented the idea of drop down notifications as well. Sorry but Android wasn't the first to create drop down notifications either...

Apple hired developers of WebOS's notification center and a notification center available on Cydia, and yet people still want to go with the story that Apple copied Android. I guess that makes for the best FUD.

Richard Stallman is so correct. People are so into what is convenient and forget quality. One day Apple will be defeated through pissing off Samsung too much, and/or other companies. Enough companies come together to defeat them they will go down through being stonewalled.

Apple is the big bully on the playground and as long as we allow them to get away with trolling they will continue to troll. We have to stand up to them and not buy their products and support Android and Linux.

Don't bother replying to him, he tends to troll Apple threads with technicalities like this...

There is a drop down to it. From the looks of it, from the exact same thing you keep quoting! Except mine shows the bit you're trying to hide... Now, can someone quote me so he reads it? I think he put me on his ignore list because I've proved him wrong quite a few times...It's not the first time he's trolled an Apple thread with technicalities just to keep an argument going for as long as he can.

And also, read this, specifically the "One of the most notable features of Android 1.0 was the pull-down notification bar" part. wink.gif

Face it, Android had the drop-down notification bar before Apple. The people who copied it from Android then put it in iOS4...Hence, it was stolen from Android. Now, I don't mind people stealing/copying ideas...However when they start suing others over it, that's when it's time to bring out the Pot, Meet Kettle picture.

You sure do make a lot of assumptions. No and no. When have you ever proven me wrong? You sure haven't done so here....

If you actually use Android 1.0, you'll see it's a notification bar, much like every other phone from the 90s and even your car's dashboard.... You tap on it and it opens a new page listing the notifications, much like many other implementations in prior smartphones. It most definitely, is not a drop down tray notification system... And Android still doesn't even have app badges...

Face it, Android didn't get drop-down notifications first either. Apple hiring devs from webOS and an app on Cydia somehow means they ripped off Android? lachen.gif

Too bad no one copied Android to begin with. You might want to look at who they hired to put it into iOS before claiming it came from Android again.

Zealot (comment referenced) got the issue correctly. Apple (or really any other company) is not here for charity, but to make the maximum amount of profit. They have shareholders to answer to, and how would you explain to them that you'd like to bring manufacturing to America while cutting previously record profits to 0 just because you'd like to hire Americans? You just can't. And it's not logical in any way.

Also, this is not an American phenomenon, it's a worldwide one; every developed country whether in Europe, Asia or North America goes to cheaper labor markets to manufacture goods in order to make profit. If you want Apple and/or other companies to bring manufacturing back home, you have to ask the government to put a high tax on foreign produced goods. Until then, no one is going to move voluntarily from cheap to expensive labor.

Even if they are one of the biggest in the world its only take very little time and a mid change of people for something like Apple to fail. Also people dont really seam to care where things are made any more. On top of that they are a hungry corporation not a charity organization.

See, whats funny is that they've been suing 'random' companies like moto and samsung - they havent touched google. Why? Because they'd get nuked.

In other news, Google is "silently" (more silently than apple suing everyone) buying the mobile section of moto. What happens when that goes through? They get 17,000 patents, a LOT of which moto licensed to apple under FRAND. Google could, due to this apple shenanigans, argue that apple has not been following the FRAND legislation (slide to unlock...), and simple retire their licensing agreements, making EVERY SINGLE apple mobile device a copy write infraction. In addition, Apple has decided to fight Intel for some reason (again, indirectly). All that has to happen is Intel + Google get together, make a super-phone (quad core Android 5.0 shenanigans), and then deny apple access to ANY intel CPUs and ANY google patents (i.e. those moto ones). They lose out on desktops and mobile, thus killing their ENTIRE income.

GG.
