I love this guy from the computer company, This is the emails.

I saw the recommended build that you sent my dad. It looked pretty good. The only things I would want to change are building it myself because if I want to know how to deal with my computer for small upgrades etc and price. When your 15 you want the best bang for your buck and buying a computer commercially isn't the best option.

Here is the build I am leaning towords, feel free to leave any constructive chriticism.

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo e6400
Mobo: ASUS P5B Deluxe/ WiFi-AP
RAM: G.Skill 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800
GPU: SAPPHIRE Radeom X1900GT
PSU: Antec TRUEPOWERII 550W
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 7200.1 250GB
Case: COOLER MASTER Centurion 5
DVD: LITE-ON DVD-R Burner W/ Lightscribe

Thanks,
Ben Hagerty

And then what he sent,

Ben,

I like the spec you have. Only thing I would change is the hard drive. Go with the Seagate 320GB perpendicular SATA drive. I am not sure if you are familiar with perpendicular recording technology. You get a performance edge over normal SATA. Google it and read up on it. If you want to build it yourself I would say definitely go for it. The best place around for components is NewEgg. You should be able to pick up everything there and build it. What are you going to do for a case? The case typically comes with a power supply built in. I like the Antec Sonata II. Super quiet and comes with fan controllers which are key for overclocking. Just verify that the power supply that comes with the case has the correct power adapters for the ASUS motherboard. ( 24 pin connectors)….it shouldn’t be a problem. Let me know if you need anything…..Good luck

Kevin

Well, he seems to half way know what he is talking about. The only thing I don't agree with is the Case choice. I guess since it comes with one of Antec's PSU's it would be OK, but it is only the 450W version, and since you are going for an X1900GT, I would recommend the 550W version, just to be safe, and allow for OCing. The case is a little ugly IMO too.

Very good

And a chance to show off your knowledge:

The 250GB Seagate 7200.10 also is based on Perpendicular Technology! I can link you to the stats of this drive if you want me to. I know that initially they were only available in 320GB and 750GB sizes, but now they also are available in 250GB, which would save me a little money, while still providing plenty of storage space.

Also, I know that many cases come with a build-in power supply. However, I feel that those PSUs are often weaker than PSUs that are available on the open market. I know that it will cost me a little extra, but I prefer a bit more powerful PSU, given the high power demand of the Radeon X1900XT video card.

Something like that

You will have a hard time finding a pre-built system that has well-rounded performance and is even close to being worth buying.
