Ad Hoc and Wireless at the same time.

So I'm just doing some reading about setting up an ad hoc connection since my computers aren't close enough for a crossover cable. I have pc with all my movies on it and want to be able to access the files with a laptop. I'm reading that the ad hoc connection is the way to go without using the internet. The reason for this is that I'd like to still be able to use internet on my other computers when we're watching movies. If I stream it through the network, it eats up enough bandwidth to slow internet noticeably.

Okay I edited this as I discovered more stuff about this. Turns out I can set up an ad hoc connection between the laptop and pc with bluetooth. This is ideal since won't take anything from my internet connection when I'm streaming a movie. The question is, if I have the wireless and ad hoc simultaneously, how can I stream the movies through the ad hoc bluetooth connection without turning off the wireless on the laptop?
