7600GT SLI or 7900GS

I have the option of running 2 7600gt's or a 7900 GS. I am wondering what would be the best option and why.

You're running it on that 17" ?

Definately the single card. SLI only has an advantage at higher resolutions (1600x1200 or 1680 x 1050 at least)

Two 7600GTs are $129.99 x 2 minus $20 x 2 MIR = total of $219.98

Look at this 7900GTO for $249.99

I'd think the 7900GS would be better for you.

Had two 7600's once, I'm much happier with the 7900!

Even thought two cards always makes your rig look cooler

I am buying a 22" higher resolution monitor tommorrow. Will that effect the decision?

The 7600gt's in SLI rival a single 7900gt even at normal resolutions. So my bet is that it will beat out a 7900gs by a good margin even at 1280x1024

What's the resolution on that monitor.

Most 22" monitors don't have a higher resolution than a 20" monitor. You'll just have a bigger surface, but the same resolution. I would consider 20" and save some money toward a DX10 card.
