The Phenom II X4 920 is an AM2+ CPU (an early Deneb), and does indeed have a locked CPU multi.... Phenom II X4 920

The other AM2+ Phenom II X4 is the 940BE, and that one does have the unlocked multi.... Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition

if you can modify the frequency multiplier, then it is definitely a black edition cpu

Send us a pic of cpuz because there is no Black Edition ( unlocked multi ) Phenom II x4 920. I'm interested to see what cpu you have.

kk then kick it up to 3.8 ghz and see if youre still stable

I think he's confused about the multiplier. You can lower it on any CPUs (AMD atleast. Rarely used an Intel) but not bring over a certain value.

It would be great if you could post a CPUZ validation link or a screenshot so we know what CPU you are using. As there are no unlocked 920.
The chip is a C2 so expect to max out around 3.7-3.8Ghz

(Now I wonder if we could flash the CPU bios or something xD just like video cards)

well the only widely available cpus left to choose from are the 1100t, 1090t or the 960t. id say get the 960t. its only a quad core but its unlocking potential is so high that youre almost guaranteed to get all 6 cores running. it only costs between 100-120 bucks
