Should I switch to Intel or not ? - Page 2

Intel's performance is superior to AMD bracket-for-bracket... you won't regret the switch. If you are taking the Intel route, I would wait for Ivy Bridge, which rocks the next-gen 22 nm process and 3D transistors (faster, cooler, more awesome biggrin.gif). I personally find it difficult to purchase a good knowing that the next-gen version is only a few months out... that's just me though.

you need either:
a) another stick of same-type RAM
b) to remove 1 stick of RAM (making sure remaining 2 are in appropriate slots for dual channel)
c) to get a kit of this tongue.gif http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Electronics-Extreme-MV-3V4G3D-US/dp/B00592002W

tbh..I have a 960T that's stable @ 4.2 and umm..I like it better than 2500K
you could use a better mobo..that's for sure..
If you feel that you must get the intel
this is a good, cheap overclocking motherboard:

Never had an AMD processor. I was a noob for years with only Intel Celerons when AMD was any good. I'd love to own one, but since the Core Duo processors came out, the balls stayed in only Intel's court.

Fair. Though I was surprised that when the LGA 1155's came out, the LGA 1156's still maintained their price points.

In the mean time you should look at your memory usage. If you are under 4GB consistently you should pull that 3rd stick of RAM. the IMC's on the AMD chips(and intel too) really prefer 1 DIMM per bank. If you take the extra stress off the IMC you be able to lower your CPU/NB voltage which will reduce a little heat in the CPU. You will be able to run your ram at higher speeds and or lower latencies and 1T command rate which will definately increase memory bandwith and with the reduced stress on the IMC and a lower CPU/NB voltage you will probably be able to increase your CPU overclock. Most people don't utilize more than 4GB of ram (including myself) and performance wise you will definately benefit from pulling that odd stick.
