Stablizing at 4.5ghz

Thread Starter
Hey i was trying to get my overclock speed to stay at 4.8Ghz and it will do that, but the power save keeps on tuning it down because its not all being used. How would i go about disabling the power save mode and any mode that would keep it from idling at 4.8?
update~
so far i set my windows performance to high. what do i need to disable in the bios to get my CPU to idle at 4,8?

Set turbo ratio from auto to 48 as well as the individual ratios you've set to get 4.8Ghz.
Take my advice and let it idle at lower speeds. When you click to load stuff, it will switch to 4.8Ghz when needed. This is the whole reason of the sandy bridge series of chips.

Turn off all power saving features. But you know, it's good that it downclocks because it saves on electricity. thumb.gif

Have you set of the multi's to 49 on one of the cores?

Make sure you set adjust multiplyer (Not in OS)
Then set each core to 48.

Then find the turbo ratio and change that from auto to 48 so it idles at 4.8Ghz, but please there is no need for this man. SB was made to run this way. Come on Flynn!

These guys are right, it drops when not under load. Its the power saving. If you must have it OC'd at idle disable all the power saving features in the bios. The things like speed step, C1E ETC.

Disable Intel SpeedStep Technology, CPU C1E, EPU and other power saving modes (all can be found in BIOS). But seriously, you should leave them on.

Turing them off can lead to instability when the CPU is overclocked.
