Here is a tip, you want to use a 500 ms polling rate, at 1k it can be a jumpy and jittery mouse. The G500 is anything but predictable. The sensor has prediction(cannot be turned off at all) along with positive and negative acceleration. They cannot be turned off only down to a small amount. The massive problem with the G500 next to a non gaming friendly sensor is the Left and right click buttons. They are prone to fail. The last thing about the G500 is a two part thing, its where they put the sensor and that stupid weight cartrage!

The sensor should be more centered in the body of the mouse and the weight system is bogus. A few weeks ago I replaced my G500 with a new G400(no prediction or acceleration) and I love it to death. The sensor is in the right place, the mouse dose not weight a metric ton as they ditched the weight thing altogether.

Ohh then there is the corde for the mice, the G500 cord is way to stiff. the G400 core flex's much better.

EDIT: stay away form cloth pads with this mouse. They track much better on a hard surface imo.

Tried out someone's G500 and was completely unimpressed. Glad to hear that the G400 is good, I'll grab that for the day when my trusty MX518 finally throws it in.

Did you turn off acceleration in Setpoint?

I had no problems with mine and ended up giving it to a friend who has no problems either.

I use a black cloth SteelSeries mouse pad.

That could be the problem, i was using a steelseries soft mat and thought my mouse was messing up. Almost bought a G400, but thought I would try a hard surface pad because ot was a lot cheaper. Got a rocketfish ( I know, BB) and it works great especially on a glass desk

That setting is placebo affect on the G500. you can minimize acceleration, but you can never truly turn it off.

You're using a cloth mousepad with a laser mouse. That's your problem right there. Also try to use a higher dpi so you dont have to lift the mouse up as often, although you still shouldnt be getting such erratic behavior when doing so as mine isn't when i do the same with my G500.

You are incorrect. Avago 9500 can turn off prediction/angle snapping in drivers. It is off by default.

Proof. Please. According to Logitech tech support you cannot turn them off with the G500. They have no drivers or Firmware to change it. There is a rumor that a firmware update will remove them but it is false.
