I'm on some dodgy -ing wireless internet of some sort. From what I can ascertain, the internet comes in to the main house on the property, then is piped to all the other houses on a network (wireless range extender only piece of hardware in this house). I have tried to hook up directly to the wireless range extender's lan port and run a wire, but I need the user and pass for the entire network or some such -. The range extender is a d-link somethingorother, looks legit. Running a D-link b/g/n USB wireless dongle on my computer.
When I first got here, the internet took some getting used to. In that it was slow as -. But I have since learned to love 240p youtube and doing any major up/downloading I need to do overnight. I watch my up/down rate all the time on my G15 screen, the best it seems to get to is ~120 kBps down, ~50 up. But usually it's more like 50-80 down. Which I can deal with BECAUSE IT ACTUALLY -ING WORKS. The past couple days it's been a massive -, and seems to actually be taunting me. Even small downloads will stall, pages will sit there, doing - all till you tell it to go again. In which case it will all of a sudden decide to work, and act like you're the -hole for not telling it what to do.. Then it progressively gets worse till I'm spamming f5 and swearing at it.
I'm normally not an angry person, but this steaming pile of - internet is driving me insane. Please help me figure out how to at least know what the problem is, before I break some beloved piece of hardware in rage.
Let me cover all the bases. There is no wired option of internet where I live. Even if there was, I'm only here for ~6 more weeks, and the landlord would probably be pissed. The only other option is Douchebag Bell 4g. Which costs something like $300 for the stupid box itself, plus $45/ mo base, plus $45/mo for a whopping 15GB of usage, plus 15 cents per MEGABYTE after that. Not gonna happen.
