I don't understand how so many people have this line of thinking.

It's a game being sold for profit and there are TONS of them available. It's not HIS loss, it's BIOWARE/EA's loss. Seriously some of you kids need to get your priorities straight. By the way you talk about it I'd swear he's passing up a miracle pill that cures cancer, aids and the common cold

Actually... it is just about the opposite.actually...
in the US alone, there are over 654 thousand copies of the game reserved for the 360 alone... 156,000 for the PS3... and 76,000 for the PC (not including any digital download pre-orders...
That is 886 Thousand reservations...lets say world wide you can expect it to sell another 50%... that is 1.2 million copies of the game... what is Bioware/EA missing out on from his one "I'm not going to buy because it is not on Steam?"

And lets look at Battlefield 3 Global Sales... PC only... since this is about Origin vs Steam and people not buying it:
MW4 989,000 copies sold on the PC... and people could buy it on Steam...
Battlefield 3 can only be used with Origin... and it sold: 1,234,000 copies...

So again where is the loss for EA if people are not buying it on Steam?
not to mention the plentiful console sales of both those games as well...

The mentality of saying on a forum that "I am not going to buy it if it isn't on Steam" is just stupid because either... A: you are lying and you buy it anyway... or B: your one sale is a drop in the bucket to the company that sold millions of copies. (over 9 million for BF3)

The loss for EA is that some refuse to buy it AND be datamined. Offer me a free game and datamine me or let me buy the game at full price and leave my computer alone.

The loss is that it's fewer copies sold. 1 less copy here there and everwhere adds up. That's $50 a pop that goes to their competitors instead of them. If a few copies not being sold doesn't matter to them then why do they spend money on DRM in the first place? If a few more bucks doesnt matter then why open their own store? The truth is every little bit adds up. In fact, they backtracked quite a bit from their first Origin eULA which tells me that you're completely wrong.

I didn't buy BF3 b/c i don't like what Origin was attempting to do and so did many others. So guess what? Sales mattered to them so they backed off a bit.

I love ME3 so I'm just going to sandboxie it or something. I never said I wasn't going to buy it if it wasn't on Steam. I buy games from other DD's or stores all the time and aside from the friends intergration on Steam, i don't pause for a second.

But i do find it funny you feel the need to defend EA and marginalize me as a customer when you don't even work for them.

it is actually funnier that you think so much of yourself that you think I was speaking directly to you and not just people in general.

I'm sure it will take 15 minutes for someone to crack it so I can play what I spend my money on the way I want to.

Cracking a game I purchased so I don't have to deal with obtrusive DRM = Thief?

We don't "use it for BF3", we were never given a choice. We would've preferred an ingame server browser like the PS3 and Xbox versions (and like every other multiplayer game has had since the beginning of time) but DICE/EA decided to show their appreciation for PC gaming by rewarding us with Origin.

Why is he a thief again?

Paid for the game, went around DRM = robbery? If it's so, Arsene Lupin is my new hero.
