Modify HP Proliant

Thread Starter
Hi guys,
I just bought this http://www.pccomponentes.com/hp_proliant_microserver_amd_turion_ii_n40l_2gb_250gb.html
I would like to use it for torrent, streaming videos and multimedia with the TV.

Specs:
Procesador AMD Turion™ II modelo Neo N40L 1,5 GHz x2
Ram 2 GB

My question is, Will I need to buy a gfx to install it on my HTPC? If so what one should I install?

How much ram would you put on it?

Thanks!!!

For the two options you are asking about here are the specs from HP's Website

Memory:
Two (2) DIMM slots
2GB (1x2GB) Standard or 4GB (1x4GB)/8GB Maximum, using PC3-10600E DDR3 Unbuffered (UDIMM) ECC memory, operating at max. 800MHz

Expansion Slots:
Slot 1: PCI-Express Gen 2 x16 connector with x16 link
Slot 2: PCI-Express Gen 2 x1 connector with x1 Link
Slot 2-2: PCI-Express x4 slot for optional management card

I would just go ahead and MAX the RAM at 8GB since its cheap. I would guess that an ATI Radeon 5450 series LOW PROFILE card should be fine for your video playback.

Thanks for the reply.

I just got my MicroServer up and running today.

Tossed in 3-2TB drives to accompany the 250GB OS drive.
Also grabbed an HD6450, 4GB DDR3 1333, and a cheap USB sound card

I am really pleased thus far with how well such a low powered machine performs..

I'd thrown 1080P MKV's at it and it plays without hesitation.

I am using this to retire my 6-core AMD "HTPC" as it's just far too much overkill.

Next on the list is a PCI-E 1X tv tuner card
