Is anyone else having vcore voltage control issues in offset mode? I've checked the 2 switrches for auto OCing, and they are no default (disabled). That was the last thing I could think of to check. The only other issue might be the Ai software I have installed? I only install the package because I'm using SSD caching. I could always try uninstalling and installing Ai Tuner II with just SSD caching.

Was stable at those settings however I noticed that my cpu would downclock like I want it to at idle however it would not change the voltage along with it. I'm new with overclock stuff because I only migrated to desktop from mobile this year. So, my question might sound silly. tongue.gif I read that many overclockers don't like VID set to auto because they're too high. In my understanding, higher VID means higher heat output, am I right? If I monitor the temp frequently & make sure they're not too high, VID set to auto is not bad right?

Yes as long as your temps are ok and you're not exceeding 1.5v you should be ok.

X79 does very well on auto in my experience with voltage scaling linearly as you increase clockspeed. Technically the vid is increased automatically and the vcore is derived from that. You add a few volts to your off-set which finely tunes vcore.

Say your vid is 1.3, your vcore will be something like1.25 under load with everything else at default. If you aren't stable, you can add to your vcore off-set. Say you add 10mv. Then yor vid will still be 1.3 but you vcore will be 1.26.

You can also increase your LLC setting to reduce the gap between vid and vcore. This is most beneficial if you don't use power saving features where your CPU downclocks. at idle you'll be at you vid voltage which is a waste since your processor is stable at a lower voltage.

Ambient is pretty hot but I run AIDA64 system stability test in air-conditioned room: 28C - 30C
I ran stress test only 30 minutes but press wrong button when trying to capture print screen. So, I ran another 30 minutes.

New BIOS is available, version 2002. All P9X79 boards have BIOS update with special instruction:-

The bios download zip contains 3 files: CAP file, the ROM file and the BIOS_Converter_Guide. It looks like you have to run the "CAP" file first as you would a regular bios update, then update to the 2002 bios ROM file. If you are doing the Flashback method, you have to rename the CAP file first and flash, then name the 2002 file to the same default name and flash next. For example, if flashing a Deluxe, you have to name the CAP file "P9X79D.ROM". Then rename the 2002 file to the same "P9X79D.ROM" name.

I don't understand yet what the CAP file is, but I will try flashing this weekend.
