one works and shows on windows as 3072mb 25-35 fps
3240x1920 ultra bf3

two works and shows on windows as 2048mb 50-70 fps
3240x1920 ultra bf3

three does not work, blank screen, BSOD, and shows 896mb on windows

I would look at the bios upgrade as you mentioned for your MB. Were 3GB cards even around when that board was released? Im not sure but worth a try.

it detects 4 gb with 4 5850s and with one 7970 it detects the 3 gigs, my bios is updated as of may 2011

i fear ill have to buy a rampage 4 extreme and a 3960x and 2 more sticks of ram and a corsair cooler and another piece of cardboard

or return a nice 7970.. but i dont think i could do that.

I may be in the wrong here but it *might* be some power-saving features that "reduce" your available memory.
Have you tried running a game and alt-tab to see what it says then? Alternatively have GPU-Z open in the background, alt-tab and check the memory usage and if it says more than 896MBs of vRAM you're all good.

One thing I did think of is if you were accidentally running with a copy of windows that's 32-bit but judging by your sig you've got a 64-bit version installed anyway. tongue.gif

available memory for my gpus? hmm, anyway i turned off all power saving features of my computer as suggested, restarting, then ill post results.

im getting my full 18.423 gigs of ddr3. i dont think either of those have anything to do with each other anymore, but i could be wrong.

also screw power saving lol, thats why i bought this 1200 watt a while ago.
