What would be wiser...460SLI or a 570?

I've got an EVGA GTX 460. I got an AMD cpu/board, but I'm gonna switch to Intel. I'll be getting an i5 2500k. I can get a 570 locally for a bit less than $400. Or, I can just buy a used 460 on Ebay for about $100, and save $300. I've read most places that a 460 SLI is about the same as a 570, or a bit better. The only difference is that I can't upgrade anymore, while with a 570 I can buy another one and SLI it. I'm leaning towards the SLI config as I'll be able to play BF3, Skyrim, etc on ultra just fine @ 1080p. Plus the ~$300 savings is a nice add on for a ssd or a more high end motherboard. Or is it better to go with the 570 and be more "future proofed"?

You should definitely be looking at the GTX 460's, make sure you get a good one if you are going to do SLI though... You want one that does not have crazy after market cooler because there will be too much excessive heat in your case and the top one will soar through to high temps. Saving $300 would create some immense oppertunitys for performance for example a great cooler to overclock that i5 2500k to a healthy 4.5 - 4.7Ghz.

This is how my SLI setup looks like...

Well the one I already have does have an after market cooler haha. I might just put one on the second one as well.I will be getting a big case nonetheless to allow good airflow. I'm gonna be pairing up the i5 (or maybe i7 who knows!) with an Asus p8p67 board (hopefully). Here's my 460: http://i44.tinypic.com/34hdyxt.jpg

I'd go with another 460. It's cheaper and a bit faster than a 570.

A 460 SLi beats a single 580, so yeah, for better performance, another 460 is the thing you should be looking for.

I say go for a 460. But if you want a single card and want a cheaper future upgrade path for financial reasons, go for a used 480 here off OCN, or wait for more Nvidia/AMD cards to come out. Just remember 69xx and 5xx cards will get cheaper once 78xx and Kepler come out, and the 7950 may drop down to your price range.

So you have 1gb cards currently? Theres nothing future proof about 1gb vram at this point. Go with this if youre going to go evga, and dump off the two 470's. That way you get a decently quick gpu and also have the vram to compete with more modern games and not have to destroy your settings to do so.

And those are 460's @ 675/1350/1800..haha I'd bet it would be better if it went up to 880/1760/2100 like I have mine right now! I think I'm convinced I should get the 2nd 460..
