New E6600 rig need input. - Page 3

yups, very close stats! Treats me VERY well even with a full ghz overclock my idle temps are 36c with the zalman 9500. So the 6400 so far is pumping out more then enough juice. And yea as for games never go below 120fps in Counterstrike:source so it treats me well.

Yeah, I second the fact that you should get an E6400 with a P5B Deluxe. Because in the end, theres more money for cake in your pocketses. Mmmm...cake.

ok, so you think it's worth it to downgrade from the 6600, and go to a geforce chip? i had thought that the x1900xt was the better performer, but then again, i'm rather n00bish
post #26 of 45
Still working on that listing a bit The 7900GTO is a new card, and it looks like an excellent performer. I'd say it's about a tie between the two. You'll hear arguments back and forth (likely I will get another card to try to fit a soundcard in the budget)

And yes, dropping down to the E6400 is a good idea, since a monitor and OS needs to fit the budget. The P5B Deluxe motherboard is such a good overclocker that you'll get high clock speeds anyways.

But do i really need a soundcard? won't the mobo onboard do?
Ok...

1) Do you want SLI/Crossfire for sure in the future?
2) Onboard should be fine for now, but puts some more load on the CPU, and quality in not always that good.
3) I included mouse/keyboard (quite good ones). Do you need these?

Let me know if SLI/Crossfire is a mush. If so, I need to pick a new motherboard.

OK honestly, I would like to xfire/sli in the future... however, monetarily, i'm just a poor college boy, so i don't see much upgrades happening in the next year. The keyboard is probably not a must at the moment, but the mouse will be. could probably scrounge about 2150. but that's my total limit.
